Lee Bum-ho, Kia's manager, said, "I was agonizing over whether to play as the starting pitcher for Kim Sun-bin, but I appointed him as the starting pitcher today after seeing the rain forecast for tomorrow. I think it would be okay if he leaves today and takes a break due to rain tomorrow. He said he was good at defense, so he made the decision. "I like the opposing starting pitcher's ball, so I'm going to use it early rather than the second half and change it to a pinch runner," he said.

At his first at-bat in the top of the first inning, Kim faced Irvin and grounded out to the first base at the first pitch. At his second at-bat in the top of the third inning with two outs and a runner on the first base, Kim was also struck out swinging, leaving regret. 

The problematic situation occurred in the top of the sixth inning. Kim tried a bunt to push toward the first base with no outs and no outs in the top of the sixth inning. "Kim Sun-bin tore the inside of his upper lip during the collision in the sixth inning and will move to Asan Medical Center for sutures. X-rays and CT scans can also be taken just in case there is something wrong with his teeth or jaw joint," a Kia official said.
